Emily and Ryan recently celebrated five years as a married couple and asked me to take some photos to commemorate their anniversary. I said yes with my normal amount of enthusiasm but this time it came with a side order of nervousness. Emily isn’t just someone who hired me for photos; she’s also my former officemate and friend! She and I used to share either side of a cubicle wall five days a week and I knew these would have to be extra great.
Emily and I went back and forth about locations for months leading up to the session and we finally settled on one in Shenandoah National Park. In typical Virginia spring fashion, we were either going to have sunny skies and humid conditions or thunderstorms, but we made the long trek anyway and hoped for the best. Mother Nature delivered and gave us a mild, rain-free evening but maaaaaan did we have WIND. It may have knocked us over and flung skirts overhead and made curly hair even more unruly but we MADE. IT. WORK!
It had been way too long since I’d had a little adventure and it was so much fun being able to combine it with photographing Emily and Ryan. Here are some of my favorites from their anniversary shoot.
